Uptown Grill - Steak - Muara Karang

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Beberapa minggu lalu gw dapet tempat makan enak baru di muara karang, namanya uptown grill. Kenapa namanya uptown grill? ga tau.

Setelah masuk ternyata memang benar :D Just kidding.

Ga biasa gitu loh.

Kalo di kwetiaw kan kita langsung to the point: sambil jalan lewat tukang masaknya teriak:

kwetiaw goreng satu polos ga pake sayur sama es teh

Selesai.

Ga bakalan disapa lagi, kecuali kalo abis makan terus lari.

Anyway, menu - menunya oke. Gw sendiri pernah pesen tenderloin (8.5), beef shaslik (9.0), chicken maryland (6.5). Harganya?

Magician wannabe

Holiday’s coming, and I’m stuck at work… sheesh.

Here’s my 3rd post, and it’s gonna be about one of my hobbies

I’ve been playing magic the gathering: the card game for approximately a year ( i think… ). Ever since a certain fat guy came to my house and waved a newly bought card deck in front of my face, hoping to ensnare a new magic player. What he didn’t know at the time is that I’ve already been playing the computer version of the game for years.

I bought the deck anyway so he won’t cry

So what is it about this card game that’s so interesting? Many things.

First, I’m not someone who enjoys playing cards. And the only reason i started learning capsa banting / tiga jendral or all its derivatives is because the only mall next to my univ was burned down during the 1997 riot. A guy’s gotta do SOMETHING to pass the time between classes.

Second, it tells me what i really am. inside.

Third, it taught me about business.

First

When i say unlimited possibilities, i actually mean… unlimited.

The game plays normally like any duel card games, where you basically try to kill your opponent. What brought it to next level is the complexity provided by the various enchantments, sorcery spells, and legendary creatures.

With every spell, the balance shifts.

With every spell, the rule changes.

If i got bored dueling someone, I’ll pick another deck to use, or the opponent will.

If THAT gets old, we bring in another player, or more.

Or change the rules.

No two games is ever the same. ESPECIALLY if you’re dueling a human.

As an illustration.. there was once a three-player game where I’m in a winning situation, one attack away from obliterating the player on my right.

While i was considering my moves, he begged me to delay my attack for just one turn… claiming that his pathetic army can never threaten me, that i can always finish him off later, and how he has three hungry children at home….

J/K. I made up that last one, but you get the point.

Me, being the honorable person i am, decides to attack the player on my left instead.

The guy on my right who was pleading for his life suddenly perked up and cast a spell on my nasty, huge creature here:

Card107322

making ALL the defending player’s creature block it. Whether he wants it or not.

After a stunned moment, there was a flurry of comments and calculations.

When the dust clears, it was obvious that the reason for the spell is to make us both kill each other, or at least wipe out all our armies, giving him room to breathe.

Unfortunately, it didn’t succeed.

So we killed him afterward with extreme prejudice.

A truly memorable moment that taught me something about life, business and the game.

I’ll post more later about my insights from magic.

Ok

It’s almost 2008 and i’ve started this blog to fulfill one of my… last year new year resolution. Pardon the phrasing…

Here’s that list of NYR:
1. Be more diligent
2. Make a blog
3. Meet more people
4. Make lots of money

Number one, three and four is deliberately ambiguous so i can easily consider that one accomplished *insert evil cackle*….

But number two, well… I can’t wiggle out of that one. So here it is, me, writing, and you reading it.

Hopefully this blog will get more interesting and informational in the future

regards,
Einhander
